What the hell is growing in my yard!?

My Five Leaf Akebia plant recently sprouted a strange fruit it has never grown before (and we’ve had it for 6 years) Each pod is aproximately 5″ long and heavy. It has made small flowers before but never something like this. Very strange.

  1. The fruits, if produced at all, are large, soft, edible sausage-shaped pods 2¼ to 4 inches in length, that ripen in late September to early October. The inside of the pod has a whitish pulpy core with many tiny black seeds.
